***CLOSED***How About A Christmas Giveaway?

This giveaway is now closed.

So what do you say? Are you guys up to a Christmas Giveaway????

I think it fits in with my Christmas Picture Posts for the month, don't you?

And we all love Christmas decorations, right?

So here's the deal. See the picture of the above nativity set? Yep. That's what I'm giving away, thanks to the folks at holidaydecorationsdirect.com . (For those of you in my area, go check out their outdoor lights since we seem to have a serious shortage here in town.)

And I have to tell you that nativity sets are my favorite part of Christmas decorations and I'm going to be super jealous of whoever wins. I love this set. (More about that on another day.)

So here's what I need you to do if you are interested in winning the giveaway.

1. Leave me a comment letting me know how many nativity sets you have and/or what it is you love about yours. Is it the sweet baby Jesus? The 3 wisemen? What makes yours special?

2. For an extra entry, post about my giveaway on your blog or website and link back to me. Then leave me another comment so I can check it out.

3. Post about my giveaway on your facebook page and give my blog link ( autumnaskswhy.blogspot.com ) Then return here and let me know. And if you want to be my friend (ha! so very elementary school sounding, isn't it??), look for autumn frymark and send me a friend request.

The contest starts today (master of the obvious, no?) and runs through Thursday the 17th. I will announce a winner on Friday the 18th. Make sure I can contact you. I will email the winner. You will then need to respond a.s.a.p. Monday I will pick a new winner if I don't have a response by then.

Merry Christmas everyone!

  1. My favorite nativity set it my mom's. She made her's a long time ago and sets it out every year on the mantle above the fireplace. I think the reason I do love it so much is because my mom made it. It's beautiful all white.

  2. We have six nativity sets, one ornament, and one extra baby Jesus. The ornament is a gift that Butterfly prayed for when she was six. The baby Jesus, FigNewTon made when she was five. Four of the sets, small hands can play with and not break. My favorite, though is the globe that plays music. I got it as a gift one year when I desperately needed to be reminded just how much God loves me.

  3. I only have 1 nativity and it is incomplete. It is a Dreamscicles one that i started about 15 years ago. All the major players are there, but I don't have all the animals. Guess I got sidetracked by life. You know how that goes. I love it because I started collecting it (and all my other Dreamscicles)the winter after my grandmother died. When I pull them out, I think of her.

  4. I told you about my nativity set. It's the only one I have. I just posted about it, so now you can see a picture of it too! (I also posted about this giveaway while I was at it.) http://www.greatcakessoapworks.com/handmade-soap-blog/index.php/my-nativity/

  6. I think that is a beautiful Nativity! I HAVE NO Nativity! :( I LOVE them though, I just never have enough cash to get a really beautiful one so I just never buy one! We actually have one that we are going to open this year at our Christmas party at home with the kids, it is the interactive "What God Wants For Christmas" set that is for kids. That's the only one we have. My favorite that I have ever seen is the Willow Tree set, which is super expensive :(
    What a great giveaway!

  7. OK, I have to admit it - I am a nativity junkie! I started collecting them when we first got married - I lost count when we hit 20 somthing. Each one has a very special memory - one is from my grandmother, another we got for our wedding, one is a Fontanini set that DH got me and has been adding pieces too whenever something special happens in our lives (come to think of it, he owes me several pieces!), the list goes on and on. To have one given to my by one of my Meiflower buddies would be great!

  9. I want it! (Is that a bad Christmas attitude?) Yes, I love nativity sets. I have 3. I'd love to have more:)

  10. Oh my gosh, I have totally been waiting for the Nativity picture day, and with the birthday craziness, then both sets of parents coming into town I almost MISSED IT!
I ADORE nativity sets. I have three "full size" sets. The one that was my grandma's, the one that was Andy's grandma's, and the Willow Tree one. I also have a Precious moments one, the Veggie Tales one for the boys to play with, two small ones from Mexico, one from Brazil, at least three sets of just the holy family (no wisemen, shepherds, etc) and a candle holder that has an entire nativity on it.
I guess that is 12. I feel like I am forgetting one.
(just skimmed down and read Carrie's comment - I also have the "What God wants for Christmas" set. She saw it at my house!) So make it 13. I am so impressed with the lady who has more then 20. I am working on it.
I love the idea that Jesus started out on earth as a baby, just like you and I. Fragile, helpless. He was God, but cried, and needed a diaper, and to nurse. He was willing to do that for us. That is just beautiful.
Several of my smaller sets stay out year round to remind me. Yes, the cross is where he paid the price. But the stable where he was born is where it all started. Sacrifice. What an example for us, even then.

  11. Me! Me! MEEEEE! (Oh. Wait. Is that an exceptionally bad attitude to have at Christmas? Um. Okay. Ignore that comment.) If I should be blessed enough to receive this surprise gift, I would remember you every time I looked at it. Which would be often. Because it is GORGEOUS.

We have five nativity sets. The Willow Tree one you saw this week. The Charlie Brown one with the very eloquent Linus. Two toy sets for the Tongginator to play with (one plastic, one wooden). And a small artsy one I like.

  12. We have one nativity set and it is sitting on our mantle as I type this. What I love most about it is that it is a constant reminder of the TRUE meaning of Christmas. Christmas is not about how much my son is going to love or not love the presents he opens, what in the world am I going to give my mother-in-law, how am I going to get my house clean and ready for Christmas dinner with the whole family in a couple of days, or even how special this Christmas will be now that we have our sweet Madeline. It's about celebrating the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. And I can't imagine spending one moment without my Savior. So instead of worrying about the little things that really don't matter, let's praise God for loving us enough to sacrifice his beloved son so that we might have eternal life even though we are so undeserving of His love. Thank you Lord for loving us!

  13. I saw this on Bethany's blog. I am, like her, have a huge love for nativities. I'm not sure how many I have exactly. My favorite by far is a nativity passed down to me from my Grandma. It's ceramic, but she always let me play with it as a child. I suppose that's why it's mismatched and chipped horribly, but I love it. There is nothing but warm memories attached.

And my favorite piece from this nativity is not actually the baby Jesus. It's a 3 legged, peg legged, sheep. Any normal person would have thrown this sad little sheep away, but when I put him by the manger I see myself at the feet of Jesus, a broken misfit, but so so welcome. So I love that little sheep.

Looking forward to getting to know your blog!

  14. We have four so far. One was given to my husband by his parents. We keep it in the boys' room. The second was his parents' and when his mom passed away in 2002, we received it. This is the one we keep under the tree each year. The third one is probably my favorite. For a wedding gift, my sister gave me a hand carved set from Indonesia. She was/is living there and brought it back with her when we got married. As an adoptive mom of three children from Asia, I love that all the human figures have Asian features. It's a dark teak wood and so very beautiful. This one we keep displayed in our living room. It replaces the Terra Cotta Warriors during Christmas.

We also have an outdoor set that were just given to us this year. They are wooden and we keep them on the porch to protect them from the elements. It's fun because we have Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, and a shepherd on one side of the porch, and the three wisemen on the other because, well, it's not time for them to make their entrance. We do that with all our wisemen. We make it look like they are on their way and after Christmas Day move them a little bit closer to Jesus until Jan 6 when we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany.

Thank you Autumn for visiting my blog and telling me about your giveaway! I now have to catch up with your posts. :)

I posted a link back to you from my blog. :)

And by the way, Thank you to you and your husband for making the sacrifices you do as a military family. It isn't easy but it is greatly appreciated by me and my family!

    Blessings!!!

  17. Ohh! I love this! I'm so embarrassed to say that I do not have a nativity in my house. :( My husband and I are newlyweds and are just starting to build up our Christmas decorations. This would certainly help!

  18. we only have one set, and it's play mobile, and it's in storage right now which makes me sad.... the kids loved playing w/ it last year, and it was so funny hearing their make-believe play w/ Jesus and all, that was totally not related to Christmas. Had me wondering sometimes "Is this appropriate???" So funny. :)

  20. Sad to say, I have ZERO nativity scenes. Zip. Zilch. Nothin'. :-( It's high time I added one, right? This one would be lovely! :-)

My 6 year old daughter picked up my oldest daughter's 2000 Millinium Baby ornament as we were decorating the tree and reverently said, "Is this the baby Jesus?" So sad. She needs a real nativity set!

My favorite set was the one my mom had when I was little. The was late 50's though the 60's. The stable had real hay glued on the roof and the little figurines of the wise men, shephards, baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, et al, were made of painted chaulk! You could pick up each one and scratch a little white powder off the bottom, if you were sneaky. :-)

In the 70's, my mom and my grandmother took a ceramics class and made LOVELY (and huge) sets that are still in use in my mom and oldest sister's homes. Who knows where the humble chaulk and hay set is?

I'm off to post to my Facebook and my blog. Thanks for entering me!

    All the best from Colorado.

  21. I have a precious nativity set that my mother-in-law painted before she passed away. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

  22. We have 2 nativity sets and 2 nativity ornaments. One is a cute little play-doh set that was baked to perfection! The second one is a party-lite nativity that my neighbor received for free and did not want (Who wouldn't want nativities all over their house???) So, she gave it to me as a gift and I just love it!! It is all metal and each figure has a candle holder behind it....when all are lit...it is very angelic looking!!!

It is teeny tiny and so adorable!! I will try to remember to get a picture of both of my nativity sets when I get home and add them to my post!!

  32. oh goodness...everyone will think I'm crazy (and my family would back you up I'm sure). I'm entering this in hopes of winning it for a friend. But I personally have no nativities. I do find many of them just beautiful. This one is particularly gorgeous for sure and I know that she will LOOOOVE it!! For me, I would love to find one this gorgeous that is scripturally accurate....sigh....one day perhaps...I know I know...perhaps nutty. But my friend I know will love this set!!! Thanks for a beautiful giveaway!!

  33. I have 3 nativity sets, only 2 that I set out. Of the three in total, my favorite is my grandmothers old set, the one we no longer set out. I couldn't begin to tell you how old it is, at least 32 years old but much older than that I know. Out of my other two, I have one that is Precious Moments that I just adore! Hubby got it for me last year for Christmas and it sits on the phone table right beside our front door. I'd love to have one for out in the yard... maybe next year.

  34. i posted on twitter and facebook about your giveaway too!

  35. We currently have two nativity sets although I am actively searching for a third; I want it to be unusual and your give-a-way certainly fits the bill.

My son's nativity set gets left up all year. He got it, as a gift, when he was six, and I adore it. It is minature and kid-perfect.

I bought one to match it and put it away to give to my own grandchildren someday.

The other my mother gave me, and I love it because it has a defective Jesus. The rest of the nativity set has a glossy finish, but Jesus is matte. I sprayed him with a glossy finish this year, but just a little. I never want my Jesus not to stand out from the crowd! Destiny

also, i love how i could collect pieces for forever, their selection is so big.

and i love how they have cats to put in the manger scene :)

i also have a little olive wood from bethlehem nativity that is going on our jesse tree this year, so i guess taht's two!

  39. It's beautiful! I love that nativity set!
I have three that I set out each year: One is the willow tree collection. My mother in law bought me a few pieces each year until it was complete. It is so beautiful and classic looking. The second one was handmade and then hand painted in South Africa. I bought it there several years ago. It makes me very happy, too! And the third is the Little People nativity that my children enjoy playing with year round :)

  40. We have two nativity sets in our home.

My mom bought three sets of one kind of nativity many, many years ago. It is a simple, ceramic set that has characters with sweet faces. It includes a little lamb which my girls love. It was displayed in our home growing up, then when my sister and I got homes of our own, she gave us each a set. It is very special to me because it is a piece of my childhood. The other one we have is a ceramic set which has 10, two-inch pieces. This one my mother-in-law gave to my girls last year. They LOVE playing with it and arranging it in different ways. I require that they leave them all in one particular spot though, because otherwise I think I might find Baby Jesus in Baby J's bed at night!

Beautiful Nativity set you have. How fun to be part of a Christmas giveaway! Thanks, Autumn!

  41. I just linked back to you! While looking at the Nativity set again, I just realized that one of the most beautiful things about it is that all of the figures appear to be worshipping Jesus. How can just a few figurines say so much?

  42. I have two nativity sets. My favorite is the one where the clothing is made of quilts.

  45. What a beautiful nativity! I have a mini ornament nativity in my tree and a special one in the living room. It has willow tree figurines - just the main ones. Nothing fancy. The best part about my nativity is the manger. My hubby made it for our first Christmas together. The back is the old wooden board that was on his wall in his bedroom (remember wood lined walls?) He would stare at the particular piece because the faux wood looked like a smiley face to him. He put branches and twine and moss around to make the most beautiful manger. There is even a cross above where the star usually is. I love the reminder of our Savior's life through this display. Birth to saving death. It really means the world to me!

    ReplyDelete
  46. My favorite part of my nativity set is the manger because my Dad made it for me. If I win this gorgeous set, I could still use the manger with it.

  47. I'd love to enter, but live in France so not sure if that is possible.
My nativity set that I had as a child, made of simple wodden figures, was given to my sister. Sadly I've never found another as beautiful, yet.
