25 Days of Christmas Photos

Ya'll know how much I love photos.

I usually do a pretty long Christmas photo post each year to share some of the pretties.

This year I decided to see if I could break it down into one post a day until Christmas...to keep us in that holiday mood.

So ready or not....here it comes.

Today's subject is Christmas Angels. All shots are from the web...none of them are mine.

Angels are mentioned 108 times in the Old Testament, and 165 times in the New Testament.

And I still want to know why in pictures and such they are all female...when the angels in the Bible are all referred to in masculine terms.

  1. isn't that odd, considering they actually have NO gender. you know, being non-corporeal and all.

its totally a human imageing thing.

oddly enough, the angel pics you showed, are the "generic" angels - which do always seem to be feminine.

but i'm also used to St. Michael, St. Gabriel and St. Raphael who are definitely portrayed masculinely.

esp St. Michael. that dude is tough stuff :) always a good one to have on your side against the devil AND a great, role model for little boys who like to do battle! :)

  2. Love that second link! What a work of art!

The warrior angel that came to Joshua was always a favorite of mine.
