Would You Rather?

Joining Andrea at Sgt and Mrs. Hub in a "Would You Rather" Monday.

The question:

Would you rather…

Take a one-week vacation to a faraway country

OR

A one-month tour of the United States?

That is very very hard.

So, if the question is about right now, the answer is a one-week vacation to a faraway country.

Because right now I can fit my ever-increasing behind in a plane seat somewhat comfortably. A few years from now I might not be able to say that (judging from my weight gain the last 3 years).

Right now I bounce back from extreme time changes fairly quickly.

Right now I do not have any medical issues that would require scoping out the nearest hospital and wondering about their standards if it is a third world country.

And I've lived and traveled many places in the US already.

Plus we have our retirement plan tailored to being able to travel when we retire...so I'm going to get to do the stateside thing in due time.

How about you? If you could go today? Which would you choose and why?

  1. Oh, this is a toughy. I've driven across country and seen quite a bit of the US, but that was with my former college roommate and my 3 year old in tow in the middle of July. Did I mention that my former college roommate refused to turn on her air conditioning the entire time and that my then-3 year old (Becky) was not thrilled about being strapped into a car seat for 8 hours a day. Somehow the beauty of the Grand Canyon was lost on her. But, boy, oh, boy did she love Dollywood! LOL!

I don't know if a month is nearly enough time to really tour the US either.

So, I would like time to really explore specific places in the US (places I've never been to like Alaska and the northwest), but I'd also love to spend time abroad. The only problem is I don't think a week is long enough to really see a country either especially when you factor in travel time, jet lag, etc. I spent a month in the UK in college and I felt like I needed more time. I could easily have stayed in Thailand and the Philippines for another month and not seen all I needed to see.

However, at this point...any port in a storm would do! I'd settle for ANY vacation right about now!

    How's that for a non-committal answer?

  2. I'd pick the one month tour of the states and make sure it hit every possible quilt shop along the way! :o)
