What a week!
Joining my friend Tricia in Thankful Thursday.
1. Random Acts of Kindness
Explanation: Hubs and Songbird love to watch football. (I love to find something else to do.) Recently Hubs had a birthday and wanted a jersey. He loves the Chicago Bears. So we found a jersey...and cried the whole time we paid for it. So Songbird also wanted a jersey of her fav.....Florida Gators. So hubs and I thought maybe we could pull it off as a Christmas present and she would just have to wait.
I posted on my Rabid Seminole Fan friends page asking if she knew where I could find an inexpensive Gators jersey. This was dangerous, you understand, but she is really the only one of my Florida friends that I keep up with semi-regular like.
Of course she reprimanded me for posting that word on her FB page. Shame on me.
And then...
One of her friends contacted me to ask for an address and size.
To make a long story short...
I have a very happy little Gator! Wayne sent my daughter a jersey and she is besides herself. Hubs and I were blown away by this gift. And now daddy and his little girl get to sit around on game days in their jerseys and make lots of noise. (Oh, and she did immediately wear said jersey to school the next day after receiving just to mess with the Buckeyes. Love that kid.)
Thanks again Wayne!
2. I am thankful that I caught MM's sickness quick. Turns out my little mouse has pneumonia. Along those lines, I am thankful for my background in xray. It allowed us to get in and out of the room quickly with an uncooperative child. Knowing what they were doing and knowing how to keep MM where they wanted her and why resulted in one exposure each.
3. I am thankful to be stationed at a base with a really good hospital. I guess that is the difference of being at more of a command post base than a working guy base. I'm thankful whatever the reason.
4. I am thankful for a husband that cooks. And has patience with a wife that has been sick since mid October and doesn't seem to improve. And will sit in the ER with his baby on Veteran's Day instead of doing the things he had planned. He really did have a bunch of homework that he needed to be doing.
5. I am thankful that we have one working vehicle. We have one in the shop, and I hope to be thankful that our Dave Ramsey budget will cover whatever the repair bill is on the Durango. (I can dream, right?)
What are you thankful for?
Praying for MM.
ReplyDeleteSongbird is beautiful. Amazingly so. I bet she doesn't even know it, does she?
Thankful that none of us at my house are into football. :)
Hey! I'm a Florida friend, do you like me?
ReplyDeleteLove the jersey! What a blessing!!!!
Rose! Why is it I still think of you as a Texas friend?? LOL!
ReplyDeleteOK- so to clarify...C is the only friend of mine from when I lived in Panama City that I keep up with regular like.
I also have a Nebraska friend that is now a Florida friend and might even be rather close to you guys.
Oh no, MM has pneumonia? Poor baby! No wonder she was feeling so tough earlier in the week. Hope she (and you) feel better soon!
ReplyDeletePraying MM feels better soon. Tell Songbird to watch out 'cause the Tide's coming in! Sorry, I'm a big Alabama fan and we are looking for revenge this year. Just had to say it. I'm the only one here who'll sit and watch football. My husband will some, but not like I do.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say amen on the whole "husband who cooks" thing. I am so thankful to have a guy who is good in the kitchen -
ReplyDeleteHope you all get well there soon!
