Autumn Asks: Have You Ever Dropped a Grenade in Your Living Room?

So. Yeah.

Remember last week or so when I said how I was happy in my current home and situation?

And remember how last week we got the call the Mighty Mouse made it into the school we wanted to send her to?

And, have you ever seen what happens when you tell a soon-to-be 14 year old that has her whole life planned out in your current location.....that daddy just got orders?

Oh my, it is ugly. Uglier than anything I've seen to date. Blood curdling screams. Tears, tears and more tears. Screaming in agony. The only thing that could have been messier would be an actual grenade. What carnage!!!

And remember how I said this is a 4 year CONTROLLED tour?

How about how happy I was to be back in Texas...or anywhere HOT?

Right.

So how does Ohio sound? I say cold. With snow.

Have I mentioned lately just how much I dislike snow? I'm trying not to use the H word...but its very hard.

Lets also throw in a report-no-later-than date of August 30.

Can you say garage sale? House on the market? Where do I start?

I'm saying it all.

So. I'm assuming everyone will understand if posts get a little sketchy or you don't hear from me for a bit.

But. Although there is lots of smirking and irony in the above post, please know that it is actually said in sarcasm not panic.

God's hand is all over this one. I'll probably share some of that at some point.

With the exception of the fact that I have become a season in my coffee friends lives instead of a lifetime, all is good.

Well, maybe you can pray for Songbird as she's over-the-top upset.

  1. Is Songbird worse than last time? Know that I pray for you every day. Now with a slightly different focus than before. We miss you. I guess I should start praying for your freinds there as I know they are about to go through withdrawls from missing you. We sure did!

  2. Last time isn't even on the charts compared to this time. You should have seen how shocked hubs was. It was actually very comical to sit through - in a sad sort of way.

  3. Poor Songbird! Life is so hard when you're 14. I would NEVER want to relive that time in my life! I'll pray for her, and all of you, as you make this transition.

  4. YOU are not a season, my friend. You are a lifetimer... it's just that you'll have to skype in for coffee and bible study! :)
Ronny said C was pretty upset Sunday :( We'll for sure be praying over her!

  5. I'm glad you have perspective in this. May God be with you in all of this. May He give you the strength and wisdom to support your girls through this difficult time. Change is hard. God is good.

  6. I am so sorry! Our kids are young enough that they don't care yet when we move/if we move but I know it is coming.
Keep us posted when you can, and take it one day at a time my friend.

  7. So it's out. :( I will definitely be praying for your family during this transition. Being 14 IS SO hard! I know in the end, she'll be stronger for it, but until then, I pray Songbird will have peace. I look forward to hearing how you already see God's hand in this. I know another Little Miss Someone who will be VERY sad at your departure.
