There's nothing like showing up at church for "8 Great Dates" night with no date. Not a pleasant position to be in. I did get a few questions. After all, I was the only one there by myself.
I seriously considered not even doing this program. It's just too much to ask to be able to complete something with my husband. The world needs saving and all that good stuff. But I asked for it.
So I show up to pick up the notes they hand out and listen to the speakers. Then, the next day DH and I do the Cliff Notes version by phone. That in itself is good luck since phone calls are not always available on all trips.
So once again I get to play the part of the single, married person. Do I sound salty? Ya think? I've got to work on that.
I have another question also. When your mind snaps...do you actually hear it?
On a positive note, the Couple's Who Pray part has been really great. DH has been fantastic about making sure it happens each evening and we even did it by phone tonight. Different but cool.

What is 8 Great Dates? I wish our church had something like that. My husband and I never, ever go anywhere! The problem is, we would sign up, and then the kids would have some sort of catastrophe, and we wouldn't be able to go.

ReplyDeleteIn the summer our church does 8 Great Dates for married couples. They provide free childcare on Wednesday night for 2 hours. We go in and get about a 20 minute lesson and get a handout on issues to discuss on your 1 1/2 hour date. This summer its based on the Couples Who Pray book and the questions come straight from there. You don't HAVE to use their questions but its all about relationship building and the topics are usually pretty interesting.
I know you've been doing the single, married person thing for a while now, but I know it doesn't make it easier. How great that y'all are enjoying 8 Great Dates!
